Bee School

The CCBA offers a yearly beginner beekeeping course that continues for 9 weeks, meeting weekly. Scroll to the bottom of this page to find details about our next class.

Some things you'll learn in the class include:

  • History of beekeeping

  • Honeybee anatomy

  • Equipment and products involved in beekeeping

  • Getting started in beekeeping

  • Managing hives safely

  • How to retrieve and process honey

  • How to "think like a bee"

At the conclusion of the class, participants will be able to attend our annual field day where you can look inside an active hive, meet other beekeepers, and play games. Click here to see some photos from our previous field day. The class and field day will provide you with all the knowledge needed to pass the state "Certified Beekeeper" exam. All instructors of this class are certified by the state association.
