Bee School

The CCBA offers a yearly beginner beekeeping course that continues for 9 weeks, meeting weekly. Scroll to the bottom of this page to find details about our next class.

Some things you'll learn in the class include:

  • Bee anatomy

  • How to use beekeeping equipment and products

  • Managing hives safely

  • Collecting and processing honey

  • How to "think like a bee"

The class is taught by Cabarrus County beekeepers certified by the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association. At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to attend our annual field day where you can look inside an active hive, meet other beekeepers, play games, and even watch an artificial swarm. After attending the class and the field day, you will have all of the knowledge needed to pass the state exam to become a certified NC beekeeper.
