
Bee School
The CCBA offers a yearly beginner beekeeping course that continues for 9 weeks, meeting weekly. Scroll to the bottom of this page to find details about our next class.

Some things you'll learn in the class include:

History of beekeeping

Honeybee anatomy

Equipment and products involved in beekeeping

Getting started in beekeeping

Managing hives safely

How to retrieve and process honey

How to "think like a bee"
​At the conclusion of the class, participants will be able to attend our annual field day where you can look inside an active hive, meet other beekeepers, and play games. The class and field day will provide you with all the knowledge needed to pass the state "Certified Beekeeper" exam. All instructors of this class are certified by the state association.

The class includes 2026 membership to the Cabarrus County Beekeepers and a beginner beekeeping guide/reference book.​

This is a sequential course so you should plan to attend class each week if possible. If you need to skip some weeks, presentation slides will be available.
